What is SSL?

What is SSL?

Brief information about SSL

SSL is an acronym for Secure Sockets Layer. It's a method that ensures the secure exchange of information between your web browser and the web server of the site you're connected to. When you browse a website and enter information, your actions can be monitored by third parties. It's possible that your personal information, credit card number, and other sensitive and confidential information can be accessed and used against your will by other users with highly advanced technological capabilities. The SSL security system is an encryption method developed to prevent such undesirable situations.

The information you send in the SSL security domain is encrypted using a seemingly ordinary, yet practically impossible-to-decipher, encryption system. The information you enter is encrypted and rendered unreadable by anyone else. This information can only be decrypted and converted into meaningful information by the web server on the other end.

This authority is internationally secured. SSL uses a patented algorithm containing keys for both private and public use. The server sends the web browser its own public key, which allows it to encrypt messages. The most interesting point here is that, despite being used for encryption, this public key cannot decrypt them. Only the server's private key is authorized to perform the decryption process. Meanwhile, the web browser generates its own private and public keys for this information, which are used in different directions. Thanks to these features of the SSL security environment, even if someone were to obtain the public key or somehow " leak " the process, they would never be able to decrypt the information and access the correct information.

Thanks to the SSL security, you can be sure that the site you're visiting is the one you actually intended to visit . A third party may have somehow obtained the private key of the site you're trying to access and may have redirected their attempts to access the site using an incorrect public key. SSL also serves the purpose of verifying the identities of web users and sites.

As a result, you can be completely sure that data is transferred securely on a site using SSL.
